About

Kate Ward

In 2012, I studied an HE Certificate in Health at the McTimoney School of Chiropractic with a view to then studying the Masters in McTimoney Chiropractic. However, happy circumstances amended my plans when I became pregnant. After having my daughter I took a step in a similar direction leaving my previous full-time marketing career and completing Level 3 and 4 diplomas in Sports Massage and a short introductory course in Emmett Technique. Emmett Technique is a unique form of body therapy involving light finger pressure at specific points.

In 2016, I completed the Well Mother Pregnancy & Massage Diploma that allows me to safely work with women in the all three trimesters of pregnancy and those with higher risk pregnancies. To find out more about the Well Mother organisation visit: http://www.wellmother.org/

Although the approaches to sports and pregnancy massage are quite different they actually complement each other with a broader range of knowledge and techniques. My latest studies in Applied Movement Neurology looks at how the brain and particularly the cerebellum affects the body's movement via the nervous system and how we can use that information to re-establish good neural connections (thus overcoming injury and imbalance) via movement drills and bodywork. Essential to all techniques is knowledge and awareness of the body's systems, conditions and pathologies. Also, listening to client feedback before, during and after the therapy is crucial to manage levels of comfort and relaxation. You can expect a professional, caring and tailored massage for you as an individual.
